- Thursday, 5 November 2009Joe Swash has been declared bankrupt, it has been revealed.
The former Eastenders actor was officially declared bankrupt earlier this week (November 3rd) after failing to pay the final instalment of a tax bill.
It is suggested that the final £20,000 of a £120,000 tax bill went unpaid, leading London's High Court to take action.
Mr Swash may have found entering into an
individual voluntary agreement (IVA) a better alternative to bankruptcy as his assets have since been taken over by the official receiver.
The developments have been described as a mix-up by Mr Swash's agent Becca Barr.
She said: "Joe has not been around to sort this out. The bankruptcy should never have gone through. He's not in financial difficulty - he's fine. There was a tax issue which will be resolved imminently."
After leaving Albert Square, Mr Swash went on to star on I'm a Celebrity
Get Me Out of Here, eventually winning the competition.
