David Kuo, director of Fool.co.uk, believes that the prime minister had delayed voicing his public opinion on the matter in order to be sure he was making the correct call - both David Cameron and Nick Clegg had spoken up on the issue.

The Royal Bank of Scotland announced earlier this month that it would be cutting its customer charges.
