- Friday, 17 July 2009The UK population is becoming increasingly socially isolated as a result of financial difficulties, according to Turn2us.
Research by the charity indicates that people are visiting friends and family less as a result of concerns over affordability, instead choosing to stay at home and use the money elsewhere.
Seeking debt solution advice could ease the stresses of peoples' money troubles and allow those most affected to revert back to living their pre-recession lives before the situation "spirals out of control".
Rob Tolan, spokesperson for Turn2us, said: "Unless people do start talking about their situations and facing up to it it's going to spiral more out of control.
"The more it's talked about and the sooner these issues are discussed openly, the sooner people are in the position where they can get help."
Turn2us reported that 23 per cent of the population is blaming money troubles for the decrease in sociability.
Total personal debt in the UK stood at £1.46 billion in May this year, according to Credit Action.
