- Wednesday, 11 November 2009Business owners could find themselves facing unnecessarily large utility bills as a result of old or faulty heating equipment, according to RSA.
At a time when many UK companies are struggling to cope financially as a result of the economic downturn, extra bills through the coming winter months could prove too much for some.
Business owners - particularly those of small companies that may well be tied up with their own home could look to have old heating equipment fixed in order to reduce the long-term costs and counter potential debt problems.
Alex Matthias, energy management leader at RSA, said: "When winter comes, many businesses turn on the heating and think nothing more about it.
"They could be wasting significant amounts of energy and money. Carrying out an energy audit could lead to significant savings in the long term."
A company building of 3,500 sq metres could save £21,000 in five years by investing £750 on fixing old or faulty heating equipment, the RSA suggests.
