- Monday, 23 March 2009Savvy shopping is helping Britons to put an extra £1,746 towards their
IVA cost, other debts or their savings pot, according to Abbey.
The financial services provider reveals the four-figure boost achieved on average by adopting savvier consumer habits.
Such an amount could help individuals to make the necessary repayments on their
IVA solutions or to meet other outgoings during the credit crunch.
More than half of those surveyed are saving on holidays to the tune of £229 on average.
Even more - 61 per cent - are putting aside an average of almost £20 per week by lowering their expenditure on entertainment.
And almost seven-tenths (69 per cent) of survey respondents have reduced the amount they spend on food by more than £17 to help lower their outgoings.
Switching to competitive credit cards could also help an individual to meet their
IVA cost as Abbey previously found £9 billion is going towards unnecessary interest payments each year in the UK.
