- Monday, 22 March 2010Former Blackburn and Scotland footballer Colin Hendry could face
bankruptcy, after being ordered to appear before a county court next month.
An online betting firm, Spreadex, have filed a petition against the Scottish legend for an unpaid debt of £35,000, but is just one of a number of creditors.
A friend, Hector McFarlane, who loaned him £85,000, recently won a legal case against Hendry demanding the repayment of the money and is now owed in excess of £90,000 including legal fees.
Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs are believed to be among the list of creditors.
Speaking to the Sun, a family friend said: "The spread betting issue is a cause for concern as they have issued the petition against him after repayment offers fell through. He is working against the clock to satisfy his creditors."
Spreadex have not commented on the
bankruptcy hearing, set to take place on April 6th at Blackpool County Court.
