- Monday, 4 January 2010More people could be seeking
IVA information this winter as energy bills tighten household budgets.
According to independent price comparison site uSwitch.com, the average household now faces an annual energy bill of £1,239 - 36 per cent more than at the beginning of 2008.
Energy expert at uSwitch.com Will Marples said that substantial price cuts on energy bills could be easily achieved through paying by direct debit, moving to dual fuel and switching to an online plan.
"Online energy plans are around £300 a year cheaper than standard energy plans - this is a very simple saving for any household to make," he said.
"And with only five per cent or 1.3 million households on online plans the scope for others to join them and save money is huge."
The charity National Energy Action reports that there are more than five million households in fuel poverty across the UK.
