- Thursday, 5 March 2009More Britons might be looking to enlist the help of
IVA specialists in light of the issues raised by the Hollywood movie Confessions of a Shopaholic.
And financial advice charity Credit Action has welcomed the release of the film, noting that it does not glorify excessive spending.
Jo Parsley, advocacy officer at Credit Action, explains: "'Confessions' portrays Rebecca's journey into debt as one which could ring true for many - a denial of how much you really owe."
She adds that she disagrees with the suggestion that debt is trivialised by the movie.
For Britons whose awareness of debt has been raised by the film,
IVA specialists could be one source of guidance on how to recover their financial position.
An
IVA consultant may provide suggestions on how to deal with borrowings from multiple creditors where individual bills have become unserviceable.
Credit Action adds that the movie is not only relevant to women, but that some men may also be able to empathise with the issues raised.
