- Wednesday, 15 July 2009The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) has warned the government it must do more to create new job sources to combat an expected growth in unemployment.
The plea comes ahead of an expected increase in unemployment figures when the Office of National Statistics releases its figures today (July 15th).
Failure to implement the IPPR's suggestion and curb rising unemployment could result in an increased number of Britons finding themselves in financial difficulty and subsequently seeking debt solutions, such as
individual voluntary agreements (IVA).
The IPPR report, entitled Building a better balanced UK economy: Where will jobs be created in the next economic cycle?, suggests that owing to the altering make-up of British industry, alternative sources of work need to be created.
Tony Dolphin, IPPR senior economist, said: "Our strategy will help build a stronger, more sustainable economy, with high-skilled jobs."
The Local Government Association recently suggested that rural Britain had been most affected by unemployment.
