- Friday, 19 February 2010IVA advice may benefit those seeking to sort out their financial lives, with new research revealing that over half of those aged 35 to 45-years-old are struggling with the concept.
The F&C Investments study reveals that just under half of the 3,000 respondents in the specified age group are on top of their finances, 36 per cent state they feel some degree of control, while 14 per cent have no control at all.
A quarter of women are relying on the State pension to keep them in retirement, compared with 20 per cent of men. A further 38 per cent of women and 23 per cent of men are not confident that their retirement pensions will be sufficient.
Head of global wholesale and marketing at F&C Investments Scott Stevens said there was a "real need" for people to sort out their financial lives.
"It is unthinkable that almost a quarter of people are still planning to rely on the State pension, when it is entirely possible this safety net will not even exist in its current form by the time they retire," he said.
"And with life expectancy continuing to rise, leaving it until later middle age to start saving for retirement is not a viable option."
