- Friday, 26 February 2010The end of the recession has brought no material benefits for many of the households that are struggling to meet their monthly commitments.
That is according to new research conducted by supermarket chain Asda, which revealed that January marked the second month in a row that the average family was no better off than last year.
Advice from
IVA specialists could be sought by many after the report indicated that typical discretionary incomes for households was £164 a week, just 0.1 per cent higher than at the same point in 2009.
A vox pop conducted by Adfero this week revealed that many consumers think the government should be doing more to help out struggling households.
Carrianne Richards, a housewife from Leeds, said: "They need to do more to help families such as ours, especially those who can't find work."
The Asda research revealed that, although there has been a rise in the rate of growth in typical gross income over the past 12 months, this has been offset by the increasing costs of most goods.
