- Tuesday, 5 May 2009IVA help was established by more than 10,000 people in the first quarter of 2009, according to figures from the Insolvency Service.
Some 10,713
IVA solutions were established from the start of the year until March 31st by individuals.
This equates to a growth rate of 3.6 per cent in the number of people seeking
IVA help when compared with the previous quarter.
Over the full 12 months since the corresponding report was published in 2008, meanwhile, the growth rate stands at 11.8 per cent.
In all,
IVA solutions accounted for around 36 per cent of the individual insolvencies reported, with the remainder consisting of bankruptcy declarations.
The seasonally adjusted figures published by the Insolvency Service indicate that 29,774 insolvencies - including bankruptcy and
IVA solutions - were recorded in the quarter.
However, financial services firm KPMG notes that the figure without seasonal adjustments stood even higher, at 30,253 for the first three months of the year.
