- Wednesday, 4 March 2009More Britons could be looking into how to get an IVA in the coming months as debt problems worsen nationwide.
Karen Sharpe, manager of the Plymouth Citizens Advice Bureau, tells the Herald that more residents of the city have been seeking guidance on their debts.
"The amounts that clients owe to creditors have increased by more than 50 per cent since this time last year," she adds.
Such owings could make it more important than ever for residents to know how to get an IVA.
Taking out a new IVA can allow individuals to agree a repayment process with all of their creditors, instead of trying to negotiate a mountain of separate bills.
And Ms Sharpe notes that anyone facing debt problems is not alone, as many in Plymouth are in similar circumstances.
"Many people in the area are dealing with salary cuts and redundancies," she points out to the Herald.
