- Friday, 4 December 2009People who rent their home could find themselves faced with higher rates in 2010, it has been revealed.
According to LettingZone, those entering into a new contract at the beginning of next year could find that they have to pay more for similar-sized properties.
The potential increase in monthly outgoings could impact upon the number of people who come to rely on debt help in order to cope.
Mark Garner, chief executive of the property website, said the possible rises would be relative to recent rent figures.
He commented: "Come February I think any renewals, or people looking to move, will be looking at higher rents
than they have been over the last few months."
Mr Garner made his comments after figures from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors revealed that there had been a 22 per cent increase in the number of surveyors who felt rents would rise over the next three months.
