- Thursday, 27 May 2010Women in their 30s who have been prompted by the latest Sex and the City film to buy expensive handbags may need a
debt management plan in the future.
A woman's bag and its contents could be worth as much as £1,800 and if it is stolen replacing the items could increase a woman's financial difficulties, according to Churchill Home Insurance.
Most bags contain a mobile, house and car keys, a purse with cash and cards, make-up, a music player and a diary which all adds up if a woman is forced to replace these items.
Claire Foster, spokesperson for Churchill Home Insurance, said: "Remembering to keep an eye out for thieves is crucial, as it could end up costing a small fortune to replace your bag and possessions, not to mention the stress factor."
Churchill found that 37 per cent of women will buy their most expensive handbag when they first see it but nine per cent save up for between three months and a year to buy their perfect bag.
It is feared by some that the UK has a 'have it all culture' which Churchill attributes to the influence of media and films such as Sex and the City and Carrie Bradshaw especially on 30 somethings.
Sex and the City 2 is released on May 28th.
